Concrete and Screed mixes
Concrete is a highly versatile construction material that finds its use in a wide range of applications.
From structural applications such as footings, slabs and foundations to non-structural applications such as paving, kerbing, and landscaping. The type you choose will depend upon your project.
Concrete mixes generally include cement, water and a mixture of sand and stone, which our volumetric mixers blend on site to create the ideal mix for you.
Footings/Foundations
Footing is an essential part of any building's foundation system. It provides a stable base for the structure and helps distribute the weight of the building across a larger area of soil. Without a proper footing, a building's foundation can become unstable and lead to structural damage. The concrete is poured into an excavated trench. A wet, stronger mix is usually needed for this.
Kerb mix
Whether you're working on a commercial or domestic project, a kerb mix is perfect for a variety of non-structural applications such as kerb bedding, backing and drainage works. The mix can be a wet or dry lean mix to suit your needs.
Slab/Base
A slab is a term often used to create a flat horizontal surface such as a base or floor made of stronger concrete. Its strength can be altered depending on the intended use e.g. shed, garage, sub-floor or finished floor, industrial or agricultural etc. The thickness is dependent on the load being put onto it. A slab base can also be reinforced with fibres if necessary.
Screed
Traditonal screed is a layer of sharp sand and cement, typically ranging in thickness from 50 mm to 100 mm, that is applied over a concrete subfloor. The main purpose of screed is to ensure a flat and uniform finished surface, or to serve as a base for various flooring materials and underfloor heating. The composition of screed is a mixture of cement, sharp sand and water. Depending on the specific requirements of the project, additives can be included to delay drying time or fibres for additional strength.
